Hi, this is a site where you can learn how to make your own family tree. I have been working on my family tree and my family is very excited. They are anxious to see if, perhaps, they have a famous ancestor.
You too can see if your family has a famous ancestor. For example:
I recently read an article in the New York Times about the First Lady, Michelle Obama. By making a family tree they traced her ancestry back to a slave girl belonging to a white master of a South Carolina estate. She was sold and shipped to Georgia. She was still a teen ager when a white man fathered her son. The slave girl, named Melvina Shields. was Michelle Obama’s great-great-great grandmother.
I thought the article was interesting and it shows what a family can learn about their ancestors.
